Zapata, Texas Trip August 2017

Our Buddy

Our Libby

When you exit the coach, this was our view.

Our high school buddies...LtoR, Henry Medlin, Bill Coker, Ron Byrd, and my hubby, Larry Staas.

LtoR, Glenda Byrd, Jane Medlin, Me...Donna Staas,  Wanda Coker.

Our Christmas tree at our house.  We really enjoyed our time with our kids.

This is the best peanut brittle recipe ever, if you like your brittle light and airy and crispy...not that hard solid candy that can break your teeth out.  Recipe is HERE

Our children and grand kids...LtoR, daughter Crystal, SIL Tim...Grandson William, Granddaughter Samantha with her boyfriend, Everett.  These are the loves of our lives...besides our furbabies...

We took a trip out to New Mexico...visited with Jane and Henry in Eagle Nest for several days then turned around and headed to Zapata, Texas for a reunion, of sorts, with all our friends.  The Medlins were also attending but were taking a different route.
After hitting Texas, we headed south.  We stayed at Lakefront Lodge in Zapata.  It's more of a permanent community...bought RV spots.  They do take the traveler though, as well.  It was nice and the people were friendly...It's a Go-To if you're ever in Zapata, Texas.
We've been at our home base for the holidays...and through Winter.  Trying to think of somewhere to go in the Spring...Maybe a cookoff or a festival.  There's always plenty to choose from.
Well, guess I'll close for now...

Camera and Baylor Rib Fest...

Loading up to follow Hubby to Best Buy

Glad to see that all lights work... :o)

Hubby strolling back to the car

Great!  Don't have to fight for our food!

This was my favorite of all the ribs,,,but wouldn't you know they were the only bunch of smoker outfits that didn't sell their sauce!

Ice Cream cookie...and it was good!!

Little guy waiting with his mommy in like for ice cream...too cute.  Had to get a photo.

Hello again...I know it's been a while since I last posted but as usual, life gets in the way.  Our daughter, hubby and their son moved to the Houston area which is a two and a half hour drive from us here in Central Texas.  So many changes...so quick.  Oh well, her hubby couldn't pass up the job promotion so they listed their home here, it sold quickly, bought a new one and bob's your uncle...done.   Of course we had to visit to see the new digs and it certainly was a great chance to use the new motorhome.  We had a great time...and it was also a chance to go to the CheeseCake Factory.  If you go to one?  Hang on to your wallet.  Not cheap eats but the food was wonderful!
Several weeks ago, we attended the Baylor Rib Fest in Waco, Tx.  We got there right when it opened, paid for the "Sampler" plates and off we went.  Great time to go because we almost had the place to ourselves...only just.  As we were leaving it really started getting crowded.
And lastly, Hubby bought a camera for the MH (no official name yet).  Best Buy installed it (cheap),  We haven't been anywhere yet but will let you know how it goes.
Until next time, safe travels!

I'm Seeing Red...

Made a few little "red" purchases and I think it's going to work!  Nothing like the American and Texas flag to get things started...There's a few other modifications we are working on...like adding a screen to the front grill!  It was wide open between the bars where bugs or rocks could hit the front of the radiator and dent it all up!  Why did Forest River build it that way?  Oh well, hubby bought some thick metal screening and fixed it.
I know, I know!  I needed to take a shot of the front grill so you could see it...Going out now to do that!

See what I mean about the wide open bars?  Hubby drilled holes in the bars and used tie downs and screws to hold them in place...They aren't going Anywhere!  And yes, he forgot to spray paint the green to black but when you stand in front of the coack, you just can't tell!
Well, guess that's it for now.  The tow kit and other "boy toys" have all come in and are laying on the floor of hubby's office.  We have an appointment for Oct 7th to get it added to our car.
Later!

Well, We Did It!

It's a 2016 Forest River FR3 30DS Motor home....We're going to try traveling again.  The crew consist of Hubby, Myself and Buddy and Libby...our two furbabies.   Several years ago we owned but sold our Mobil Scout 5th Wheel simply because we rarely got the chance to use it.  There's not much these days holding us back...we still have a plumbing company to run and my Granddaughter, Samantha will still be living here with us after Crystal, Will and Tim move to Magnolia in November or December.  She has her name on a list for an apartment that will be ready by the end of November.  When we go to visit the kids in Magnolia we can stay in the RV park close by their house.  Or maybe there will be a chili cook off somewhere we want to go see...or whatever.
Also planning a trip to Angel Fire, New Mexico to visit with friends then off to Carlsbad Caverns then home.  We've been watching "Chris and G Travels" on You Tube and have been thinking about Alaska...who knows.   They're young but it's fun to follow along on their travels.
It's got a good floor plan, enough for Hubby and I.  Sleeps eight...big shower...I think it'll work.  Anyway, it's very...brown, as you can see.  That's the way they are dressing them up these days...browns.  SO, I've started accenting things in red.  I'll shoot some pictures after I'm done.  Oh, and see the FR3 lettering under the TV that sits over the sink?  There's a light switch just for it!  Flip the switch and it lights up blue...that's all it does...Hahaaa...omg...  It's been a busy month...hiring for Crystal's position...buying the coach...working...living.
So...Here's to the Hubby's and my new adventures...
